[ BIOGRAPHY ]


1998:

Guitarist Wör and bassist Vermin had decided to part ways with all previous projects to create some of the most punishing black/death metal the world had ever seen. To achieve this goal, the proper drummer would have to be recruited. Enter J.Read - a long time associate whose ability to attack a drum kit with no need for triggers and other studio trickery.

1999:

The "Landline" mCD was recorded and released by Catharsis Records. This EP showed all that a new force was to be reckoned with on Canada's Western side. A small number of shows were performed to support this EP, and the response was staggering.

2000:

The strength of the "Landline" recording got Axis of Advance playing several shows during this year, and laid the groundwork for a 1-album deal to be worked out with Death to Mankind Records in Spain. After much work, Axis of Advance entered the studio to record their first full CD "Strike" by the end of the year.

2001:

There were many delays in releasing "Strike." To help pass the time and to avoid any downtime, long time associate Sharund from the Danish band 'Demon Realm' approached Axis of Advance to take part in a 4-way split 7" hell-bent on the destruction of this world. Axis of Advance immediately commissioned a local friend to bring an 8-track recorder into their rehearsal studio to record the song "Tactics Forth" in mere hours. This 7" was released late in the year. November of 2001 also saw the triumphant release of the debut full-length "Strike."

2002:

Upon the strength of "Strike," and talking to drummer J.Read while he was playing session drums for an Arkhon Infaustus tour of Europe, Osmose Productions signed Axis of Advance for a 2-album deal in early 2002. The band once again entered the studio in the summer of 2002 to record their second full-length CD "The List" - which was in turn released in October of the same year. Several more shows were played to support this release, including a mini-tour of the band's home province.

2003:

Once shows were completed for "The List," J.Read's main band, Revenge, was offered a tour of the United States with Deicide, Amon Amarth, Behemoth and Vehemence - and he asked Vermin to take over the guitar duties for this tour. Six weeks and 12250 miles later, the pair returned home to a vigilant and ultra-prepared Wör. He had used this time to construct the skeletons for the new Axis of Advance material to be recorded for the new album. Plans were made for the new year...

2004:

January of 2004 saw Axis of Advance head to European lands for their first headlining tour overseas. Germany, Slovenia, Holland and Belgium were all levelled. Once this 2-week assault ended, Axis of Advance jumped on a ferry to head to the south of Sweden to record their new full-length CD, to be titled "Obey." Berno Studio in Malmö was where the axis of advance occurred, with metal mastermind Henrik Larsson behind the controls. At the end of January, the band headed back to Canada to regroup and prepare for the next onslaught. September 2004 saw the release of "Obey," and plans for shows both local and abroad are in the works.

2005:

After the successful release of OBEY, Axis of Advance played several shows around Western Canada. The creative juices were still flowing heavily, and the band decided to immediately return to writing new material. Four new songs were written and rehearsed, and the band entered VHS studios in late summer. The resulting recording contained the four new tracks and a re-recording of the now cult song 'Tactics Forth.' This 25 minute mCD/10" mLP will be put forth in January 2006 on Osmose Productions.
