[ F.A.Q. ]
What does the name "Axis of Advance" mean?
A line of attack traversed to meet an enemy at wartime.
What do your strange and atypical lyrics deal with?
Our lyrics tend to run on thematic narratives, from past legends to the mythology of the future. The new album deals
with human enslavement via technological authoritarianism. In short: hell on earth for all too afraid to open their
eyes.
Your lyrical concepts deal heavily with warfare. Why the interest in this particular topic?
Metaphorically, war is the greatest evil on earth. Everyday life is easily comparable: stratagem, tactical
deployment, execution, defeat and victory. Don't over-extend your supply lines, and lace your boots up tight. It's
ugly out there.
Is Axis of Advance a political band?
There is a huge difference between activism and observation. Axis of Advance practices the latter. Awareness through
vigilance and spreading knowledge to the like-minded is our way. We are not a political group, but we are not afraid
to report what we know, nor are we going to stop questioning the dubious aims of the powers that be.
Is Axis of Advance a religious band, be it for or against any specific denomination?
Logic paves the way over dogma. There is no emotional recourse to general humanity, and individual complexities are
overlooked for the sake of consensus.
Axis of Advance have been no strangers to controversy, and in your eyes, does the band still get pegged with
certain accusations from the witch-hunters?
Let them come. Every step takes them back closer towards the dank holes of dogma from which they came. The deeper
they dig, the more they know this to be true. They have broken like water upon the solid stone that is Axis of
Advance, and strength - not numbers - will prevail.
What sub-genre of metal does Axis of Advance fall under?
Defining or categorizing a unique entity must be tough indeed, especially when Axis of Advance disagrees with 99%
of the comparisons. Genres may help labels and magazines define certain bands, but it is of little use to us. Call
us what you will, metal is all we are.
Why did the previous band of Wör and Vermin, Sacramentary Abolishment, end; and what are your thoughts on its past
works?
S.A. ran from '93 - '97. Although it didn't gain widespread notoriety or support, the project carved a very strong
path for apocalyptic destruction in its own right, and those days are fondly remembered. We ended the band because
it was no longer functional due to conflicting schedules with our drummer. S.A. did, however, create a perfect
platform from which to launch Axis of Advance as a new entity within the existing musical/directional framework.
Are you happy with the work of Osmose Productions as a record label?
So far, they've done a good job in helping to spread Axis of Advance's obscure sound around the globe. It's a plus to
know that they will support the band because they like the music and aren't just about cashing in.
Is your drummer, J.Read, a session musician?
Technically, J.Read is considered a session member of Axis of Advance. That being said, his mark is of the highest
order, and no one else is qualified to play drums in this band.
